The sixth annual Neighborhood Job Fair will be hosted Thursday, May 24th, at Smitten Hall/Temple University on 1913 North Broadstreet.

It is open to the public and free admission to those attending.  There will be over 50 employers present who are there to offer all different levels of job opportunities. Those seeking a job are encouraged to dress to impress as well as to have a resume on-hand.

Philadelphia City Council is holding its first-ever Veterans Resource Fair this Monday, May 21st, at The Inquirer Building on 400 North Broad Street.

More than 20 City and local agencies plus a variety of nonprofit agencies will be there to provide information and counseling to Philadelphia's veterans on employment, housing, legal issues, and education. Free medical screenings also will be provided, courtesy of Drexel University.

Doors open for the Veterans Resource Fair at 10 a.m., and the fair runs until 1 p.m.  Call City Council at 215-686-3256 for more information.

City Year teams serving in the North and West Philadelphia communities are joining together to host the third annual Walk for P.E.A.C.E. on Saturday, May 5, 2012, with the rain date on May 19, 2012, from 10:30am to 3pm. The walk is to address social issues in North and West Philly and "Promote Education And Community Empowerment (P.E.A.C.E.).

The West Philadelphia walk will begin at West Philadelphia High School and Tustin Recreation Center. Both walks will unite at Sheppard Recreational Center.

The North Philadelphia walk will start and end at Piccoli Park with a walk through the Juniata Park neighborhood.

America's largest ten mile race is coming up fast right here in Philadelphia on Sunday, May 6, 2012, starting at 8:30 a.m., rain or shine. 

The 2012 Blue Cross Broad Street Run 10 Miler is looking for hundreds of volunteers to help make Philadelphia proud. Come join the fun with over 40,000 runners going straight down Broad Street, from Logan to the Navy Yard.

PA now requires you to show a photo ID each and every time you go to the polls. The new law officially goes into effect for the November 6 general election. (You’ll be asked for a photo ID for the April 24 primary, but can still vote on the machines without one.)
 
A broad-based citywide coalition is conducting a non-partisan campaign to educate voters about what types of photo ID will be accepted and how to go about getting a photo ID if they don’t have one.
